Kashmir parts receive light rainfall, night temperature drops

Srinagar, Mar 19: Parts of Kashmir valley received light rain, resulting in a slight drop in night temperature on Sunday, officials said.
The Meteorological office predicts light rain with thunder at isolated to scattered places in Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.
Currently the weather is partly to generally cloudy with the chances of light rain with thunder at scattered places during the next 2 days, the MeT office said.
It said the weather will remain generally cloudy on March 21 and 22 while intermittent light rain with thunder at scattered places may occur from March 23 to March 25, it said and added that from March 26 to March 28 the sky will remain partly cloudy in Jammu and Kashmir.
Srinagar recorded a low of 5.5 degree Celsius against 6.8 degree Celsius the previous night which was 0.8 degree Celsius above normal for the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir. It also received 0.2mm of rainfall during the past 24 hours till 0830hours on Sunday.
Qazigund on Srinagar-Jammu national highway had a low of 3.5 degree Celsius against 3.8 degree Celsius a day ago. It also received 15.0 fain fall during the past 24 hours.
Pahalgam in south Kashmir witnessed a low of 1.2 degree Celsius against 2.1 degree Celsius the previous night which was 1.1 degree Celsius above normal for the tourist hot spot. It also received 1.1mm of rainfall during the period.
The Picnic spot of Kokernag recorded a low of 4.0 degree Celsius against 2.1 degree Celsius a day ago which was 0.5 degree Celsius above normal and it also received 19.8mm of rainfall during the past 24 hours.
Gulmarg in north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 0.4 degree Celsius against 0.5 degree Celsius the previous night. It was 1.9 degree Celsius above normal for the famous ski resort. The resort also received 1.6mm of rainfall during the period.
The frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara had a low of 4.5 degree Celsius against 4.8 degree Celsius a day ago. It also received 0.7mm of rainfall during the past 24 hours, the MeT office said.
