They were also made aware about Govt Schemes like MDM programme, free textbooks, free uniform for classes Ist to 8th , scholarship schemes for SC/ST/OBC/ disabled students and National Means cum Merit scholarship (NMMS).She urged community members were urged to promote the enrolment by encouraging the general public to send their children to Govt Schools to get quality education by highly qualified teachers and to avail a string of facilities. Speakers from different school committees gave their valuable suggestions for the welfare of students and uplift the education system.Parmila Devi Stage Secretary discussed all Govt Schemes and facilities of Govt Schools and requested all community members to make an effective enrollment drive in Community to increase enrollment of Govt Schools. Dr Harjeet Kour highlighted NEP 2020.
DDC Member Vidya Mottan speaking on the occasion observed that community mobilization and close involvement of community members in school education is extremely critical as it fosters ‘bottom up approach’ not only in effective planning and implementation of interventions in the schools but also in effective monitoring, evaluation and ownership of the government programmes by the community. She said active participation of the community also ensures transparency, accountability and helps in leveraging the cumulative knowledge of the community for better functioning of school. Most of the parent members in the Govt. Schools are from a humble background and mostly depend on daily wages earned by them in their respective occupations. As a result, they find it difficult to risk the loss of wages for attending these meetings. To overcome this constraint, and ensure the active participation, she suggested proposed that parents attending such meeting may be reimbursed their daily wage on the day of meeting.
