Book Release in National Webinar encompassing idea of Inclusivity & Gender Justice

Jammu, Mar 22: On the valedictory ceremony of webinar series on Transgender Persons Act, 2019 and Rules, 2020 hosted by Amity Law School, Noida in collaboration with National Institute of Social Defence, Ministry of Social Defence & Empowerment, GOI, the galaxy of scholars from all parts of the country and abroad has witnessed new perspectives in the existing gender discourse and the marginalization associated with ones’ positioning in a specific gender. These perspectives were added by unraveling of two books in the virtual presence of Dr. R. Giriraj, Director, National Institute of Social Defence, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India; Prof. (Dr.) D.K. Bandhopadhyay, Chairman, Amity Law School, Noida; Prof. (Dr.) Vinay Chauhan, Director, The Business School & Dean Students Placement, University of Jammu; Dr. Joshua Aston, Associate Dean of Law, School of Business and Law, Edith Cowen University, Western Australia; Mr. Aman Rajput, Joint Director, Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India; Mr. Himanshu Verma, Employment & Social Media Expert, Ms. Dipika, National Capacity Building Trainer at One Stop Centre, Delhi ; Prof. (Dr.) Aditya Tomer, Prof. (Dr.) Shefali Raizada, Prof. (Dr.) Arvind P. Bhanu, Addl. Directors, Amity Law School, Noida; Ms. Shweta Sehgal, Consultant, NISD; Mr. Aditya Prakash, Bihar Judicial Service, Satvik Sharma (NISD) and senior faculty members and students both within and outside the community.
The citation of the unraveled books was presented by Mr. Rupendra Singh, Assistant Professor, Amity Law School, Noida. He beautifully introduce the audience with a purpose to appreciate the efforts of the authors/editors and to motivate other to follow the same by quoting a famous maxim that there is only one thing that can replace a book; the next book. While introducing the first book titled ‘Women, Law and New Challenges: A Way Forward’ , a joint and collaborative effort of faculty members from The Law School, University of Jammu and Amity Law School, Noida, AUUP keeping in view the broad mandate of New education Policy, 2020 emphasizing interdisciplinary and inter institutional collaborations. The book has been edited by Dr. Monica Narang, Associate Professor, The Law School, University of Jammu and co-edited by Dr. Amit Dhall, Dr. Nitan Sharma from Amity Law School,Noida, and Ms. Sonam Prasher from Department of Law, University of Jammu. This book is published by Redshine Publications based in UK (London) and it covers issues ranging from Shadow pandemic and women, Gender linkages and water crisis, Live-in relation, menstruation hygiene, International human rights framework, personal laws to political representation.
The audience has also witnessed the unveiling of second book titled ‘The Realization of the Transgender Persons Rights in India: A Socio-Legal Perspective’ authored by Prof. (Dr.) Aditya Tomer, Dr. Kartika Bakshi, Dr. Nitan Sharma and Dr. Sumitra Singh from Amity Law School, Noida. This is the first of its kind in-depth textbook on the social marginalization and legal position of transgender people in India. It starts with the deceptively complicated world of biological sex and then shifts to contemporary struggles before broadening its focus to include human rights, constitutional law, understanding the role of the judiciary, and the spirit of the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019, and the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Rules, 2020.
