Weather improves after rains lash plains, upper reaches get snowfall

Srinagar, Mar 26: Weather has improved on Sunday after upper reaches experienced fresh snowfall and plains lashed by rains during the past few days in Kashmir valley, officials said.
Meteorological Department forecast of mainly dry weather over Kashmir division and very light rain or traces at one or two places over Jammu division during next 24 hours.
Higher reaches of Kashmir valley including ski resort of Gulmarg experienced snowfall while plains were lashed by rains during the past few days resulted in drop in temperature.
The day temperature also recorded below normal all across the Kashmir valley, Met office said.
Sun appeared with a clear sky after days of wet weather in Srinagar. Srinagar recorded the minimum temperature at 5.7 degree Celsius on Sunday against 5.8 degree Celsius the previous night. It was 0.7 degree Celsius above normal for the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir during this period.
Srinagar also experienced 4.1mm of rainfall during the past 24hours till 0830hours today.
Qazigund had a low of 5.0 degree Celsius against 4.6 degree Celsius a day ago which was 1.3 degree above normal for the gateway of Srinagar. It also experienced 6.4mm of rainfall during the period.
Pahalgam in south Kashmir recorded a low of 2.0 degree Celsius against minus 0.5 degree Celsius a day ago and it was 1.6 degree Celsius above normal for the famous picnic spot.
It also received 2.1mm of rainfall during the period.
Kokernag had a low of 4.1 degree Celsius against 3.8 degree Celsius the previous night and it was 0.8 degree Celsius above normal for the south Kashmir picnic spot. It also received 6.3mm of rainfall during the past 24 hours.
Gulmarg in north Kashmir had a low of minus 1.4 degree Celsius against minus 1.0 degree Celsius 0.2 which was 0.2 degree Celsius above normal for the famous ski resort. It also received 3.8 cm of snowfall and 9.4mm of rainfall during the past 24 hours till 0830hours on Sunday.
Kupwara recorded a low of 3.8 degree Celsius against 3.4 degree Celsius a day ago which was 0.6 degree Celsius above normal.
It also received 1.8mm of rainfall during the past 24 hours, the MeT office said.
