Convocation of IGNOU to be held on April 3

JAMMU, Mar 31: The 36th Convocation ceremony of IGNOU will be held on 3rd April 2023. The Convocation ceremony is being organised at 33 Regional Centres across the Country including the Regional Centre Jammu and the remaining Regional Centres have been clubbed. Smt. Droupadi Murmu, Hon'ble President of India, has given her consent to be the Chief Guest on the occasion. Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon'ble Minister of Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Govt. of India will be the Guest of Honour.
The Convocation function of Jammu Regional Centre is being held in the Convention Centre, Near Circuit House, Jammu on 3rd April, 2023 from 10AM to 3PM. Prof. R. K. Sinha, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra would be the Chief Guest for the Convocation ceremony at Jammu. A number of dignitaries and invitees are going to grace the occasion along with the students of this Regional Centre who have successfully completed their Degrees/Diplomas. Around 2.76 lakh have been declared successful to receive Degree/Diploma in the 36th Convocation function which includes 108 Ph.d. Degrees as well. The LIVE coverage of the Convocation ceremony will be broadcast through YouTube, Facebook, Gyandhara and Gyandarshan channels.
All those students who had successfully completed their respective programmes of study in the Term-End Examinations held in December 2021 and June 2022 are eligible to receive their Degree/Diploma certificates in the 36th Convocation ceremony. The University had created an online portal for the eligible students to register for the Convocation. The students who have registered and given their consent to receive the degree in person have been invited as per IGNOU guidelines to confer upon the Degree in the Convocation ceremony. Those who have registered and given their consent to receive Diploma/Degree through post would be sent their respective Degree/Diploma/Certificate through Speed Post after the Convocation ceremony.
A total of Ten Thousand Five Hundred and Six (10506) students from Regional Centre Jammu have been declared successful and eligible to receive Diplomas and Degree Certificates in the 36th Convocation function at Jammu which includes 4536 students of Master Degree programmes, 5230 students of Bachelor Degree programmes, 469 students of Diploma/Post Graduate Diploma programmes and 271 students of Certificate/Post Graduate Certificate programmes. However, around 250 students who have given their consent and requisite fee to attend the Convocation function are expected to attend and receive their Degree/Diploma certificates in person during the convocation function at Jammu.
"The students are requested to bring their IGNOU Identity Card or Identity Card issued by any other Government Authority while coming to attend the Convocation function. The students are also advised to bring Rs.300/- (Rupees Three Hundred Only) in cash, towards the security deposit for Scarf, which is refundable on return of the Scarf after the Convocation function is over", said Dr. Sandeep Gupta, Regional Director, Regional Centre Jammu.
