Rains lash J&K, more in offing

Srinagar, Apr 1: Rains lashed most parts of Jammu and Kashmir in the last 24 hours, Meteorological (MeT) officials said.
The MeT said intermittent rain with snowfall over higher reaches is very likely to continue at most places of J&K on Saturday.
The data issued by MeT said that the summer capital Srinagar recorded 5.2 mm rains. Kokarnag in south Kashmir's Anantnag district received 9 mm of rain in the last 24 hours.
The winter capital Jammu recorded 13.7 mm rains.
The MeT predicted cloudy and wet weather for the next five days.
It said weather is likely to remain partly to generally cloudy on Sunday and there is a possibility of a brief spell of rain or thunderstorm towards evening at scattered places.
From April 3-6, intermittent rain or thunderstorms are predicted at many places.
"Thunderstorm may be accompanied by strong gusty winds," the MeT said.
The weather department has asked farmers to postpone spraying and irrigation till April 6.
Meanwhile, the night temperature in Srinagar was 9.1C, some 2.7 notches above normal.
On Friday, the day temperature in Srinagar was 18C.
North Kashmir's frontier district of Kupwara near the Line of Control recorded 6.8C temperature during the night.
The tourist resort of Pahalgam in Anantnag recorded a low of 4.6C, and it was 2.9C above normal.
The ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir recorded a low of 0.8C last night.
The minimum temperature in Jammu was recorded at 14.7C against 15.1C on the previous night.
