Embarrassment for Pak as PoJK assembly supports Amit Shah on Sharda Peeth
4/2/2023 11:35:36 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 2: Passing the resolution in the assembly of the Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) government on Sharda Peeth has created embarrassment for the Pakistan government.
PoJK assembly passed the resolution within days after Union Home Minister Amit Shah the government will explore all possibilities for the opening of Sharda Peeth on the lines of the Kartarpur corridor.
The Government of PoJK has proposed that on the same lines as the Kartarpur corridor has been built between the two countries, the Sharda Peeth corridor should be opened as well, and people from India should be allowed to undertake the pilgrimage.
While e-inaugurating the Mata Sharda Devi temple near the Line of Control (LoC) in Karnah sector of Kashmir Valley on March 22, the Union Home Minister said that Sharda Peeth has been a historical centre of India's cultural, religious, and educational heritage, like the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor, Government under the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will move forward to open Sharda Peeth for devotees.
Shah said the opening of the temple was the beginning of the new dawn and quest for reviving the Sharda culture.
“The Mata Sharda Mandir is being thrown open for devotees on the auspicious occasion of our new year. This is a good omen for devotees across the country. Mata Sharda's blessing will now remain over the whole country for the centuries to come,” he said in his speech.
Referring to the demand for opening Sharda Peeth across the LoC on the lines of the Kartarpur corridor, the Union Home minister said the Centre “will surely make efforts on this and there is no doubt over it”.
The Kashmiri Pandit community has welcomed the PoJK Assembly’s decision. Save Sharda Committee Kashmir has been pushing for the opening of the corridor since 2004.
However, in a video, a former Pakistan High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit was seen opposing the pilgrimage corridor to the Sharada Peeth Temple in Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoK). He was irked at a lawmaker from Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad’s Awami Muslim League (AML) for entertaining the idea of opening a pilgrimage corridor.
