Police book three drug peddlers under PIT NDPS Act

SRINAGAR, Apr 3: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday booked three drug peddlers under Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act and arrested two others with contraband substances in Baramulla district.
Police said acting tough against drug peddlers and to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Baramulla Police booked notorious drug smugglers identified as Sageer Ahmad Mir alias Sata, a resident of Janwarpora Sopore, Bilal Ahmad Bhat alias Bilal of Durhama Wagoora and Manzoor Ahmad Sada alias Manzoor Auto, a resident Sada Mohalla Pattan who have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority.
All the three drug peddlers have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jail Jammu.
Meanwhile, Baramulla police arrested a drug peddler identified as Adil Assadullah of Kawchek Kreeri during checking at Saloosa Kreeri. The drug peddler on seeing the checking party tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully.
During search 50 grams of contraband, Charas like substance was recovered from him and he was taken into custody immediately.
A case under NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Kreeri and investigations were set in motion.
In a similar incident, Palhallan police arrested a drug Peddler identified as Nazir Ahmad Dar, a resident of Naidkhai Sumbal during checking at Hamrey Pattan.
The accused was carrying a handbag on the way to Hamrey from Goshbugh but upon seeing the naka party tried to flee, police said and added he was apprehended tactfully.
During search of the carry bag, 500 grams of contraband, Charas like substance was recovered from him and was confiscated. A Case under NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Pattan and investigations set in motion, police added.
