J&K Moving Fast
4/3/2023 11:44:45 PM

During the past three years Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed massive changes in every field.
The abrogation of Article 370 and J&K’s transition into a Union Territory has changed the very concept of governance in the region.
After August 5, 2019—when the Centre announced its decision to scrap J&K’s special status and bifurcate it into two Union Territories—Jammu and Kashmir has seen massive infrastructure development and the projects that were incomplete due to one or other reason have been completed.
Road connectivity has improved. Many far-flung villages which were without any proper road connectivity have been connected to the main roads and highways. Bridges have been built and the tourism infrastructure has been developed.
During the past three years, J&K hasn’t looked back. It has marched on the path of peace, prosperity and development. The government has been focussing on the needs and requirements of a common man. He has become the priority.
The governance deficit has been addressed and the Pakistan sponsored terrorism has been curbed. In a nutshell the Centre has addressed most of the burning issues.
The improvement in ground situation has led to people heaving a sigh of relief and carrying on with their activities without any fear, threat and intimidation.
Political parties are eagerly waiting for elections. Politicians are demanding that the assembly polls should be held without any delay as people want the elected government to return.
The Centre has dropped enough hints that the assembly elections in J&K will be held this year and all the preparations have been made. Recently the Election Commission of India stated that there is a vacuum in J&K and it needs to be filled.
The scrapping of Article 370 has also changed the political equations, assembly and parliamentary constituencies have been redrawn.
Jammu has been brought at par with the Kashmir region vis-à-vis distribution of the assembly seats thus ending the hegemony of the Kashmir centric parties. Whenever elections are held in J&K, Jammu based parties will have an equal say in the government formation and one thing is for sure that winning the polls and coming to power won’t be a cake walk for any party. Jammu and Kashmir has changed in three years and has changed for good.
