Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 5: Deputy Commissioner, Avny Lavasa presided over the weekly Block Divas programme at Nagrota today, where she received first-hand accounts of public grievances.
Delegations from various panchayats and individuals apprised her of the problems they face in their daily lives. The primary issues raised pertained to the irregular supply of water and electricity, revenue, land compensation, road connectivity, availability of drinking water, cleanliness and sanitation.
The DC issued immediate directions to the concerned officers for the prompt redressal of their grievances. She assured those present that issues of public importance would be brought to the attention of higher authorities and that all pending matters and public service delivery slackness would be thoroughly reviewed. She also urged officers to work diligently to achieve their targets and ensure that benefits reach rural communities.
Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Piyush Dhotra, block-level officers, PRI members and a large number of people were in attendance at the programme.
Subsequently, the DC chaired a meeting of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Jammu to discuss matters related to public transport within the district.
As chairman of RTA Jammu, she called for effective traffic regulation near educational institutions and government offices. Regional Transport Officer Jammu Pankaj Bhagotra and other concerned officials were present at the meeting.
