Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 5: The Jammu and Kashmir administration is likely to question some Bharatiya Janta Party leaders from Kashmir in connection with the Gujrati Conman, Kiren Patel case “so as to fix responsibility on the part of officials who could be involved in the lapse.”
Sources said in the wake of photos of some leaders from the party with Kiren Patel doing the rounds on the media circles, the administration would be questioning them as “get the clear picture as to how come Patel had come in contact with them and if any officials were involved in the same.” As per the sources, the conman had introduced himself to some BJP leaders as being a “Modi supporter from PMO” who also wanted to do rallies in Kashmir.
The leaders were among those who met Patel during his first visit to the Valley in October last year.
That time Patel is understood to have called the BJP leader on phone and introduced himself as a senior official from the PMO asking about the party affairs and situation for holding of Assembly elections.
After a few days when Patel had reached Srinagar, on his first trip, he had phoned the BJP leader again asking him to have a meeting at a hotel.
Sources said during the meeting Patel told the party leader that he wanted to hold rallies in support of Modi government. The Kashmir politician, however, is understood to have told the latter that if he wanted to do rallies in coordination with the right wing party he would have to come to “come through proper channel and send a requisition with regard to the same.”
Source said the questioning in this regard was likely as the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, has started probe to fix responsibility for the lapse in the administration that led to the conman getting Z-Plus security during his three trips to the valley.
“We know that he (BJP) leader was also duped like many others but what needs to be ascertained from him is that if he suspects involvement of any officers in all of which led to the lapse on the part of the administration. After all responsibility needs to be fixed as to who were the blacksheep in the administration responsible for the mess,” said a source in the know of the matter adding that “there’s nothing against him(BJP) leader.”
Pertinently Patel was arrested by Srinagar Police on March 3 from a posh hotel.
