Rekha Mahajan encourages organic agriculture, use of millet

JAMMU, Apr 10: The Bharatiya Janata Party's Jammu District South agricultural wing, the (Kisan Morcha) is carrying out a campaign in Jammu District South to limit the use of insecticides and chemical fertilizers in agriculture.
To celebrate the "Sewa Saptah" District President BJP Jammu South Rekha Mahajan attended the program in RS Pura-Miransahib Mandal under District Jammu South at Kumar Palace Kullian. The program was organized under the Presidentship of Kissan Morcha District President Jammu South Gurdeep Pakaya.
Rekha Mahajan along with Former MLA and DDC Prof Gharu Ram Bhagat, District General Secretary Akash Chopra, President RS Pura Mandal Vikram Sandhu, Mandal Prabhari Vikram Sharma, and others were present during the meeting.
As part of the Seva Saptah (weekly fortnight program), the District President of Jammu South Rekha Mahajan participated and interacted with farmers and awareness of the people of natural farming.
During the program, Rekha Mahajan said the BJP District Kisan Morcha wing started the Samajik Nayay Saptah in Jammu District South on natural farming and other agricultural products to introduce the benefits among the farmers. Rekha Mahajan stated that BJP Kissan Morcha conducted seminars on the use of millet and organic farming to help them pass on this knowledge to farmers at the mandals level in Jammu District South. The program got a huge response in RS Pura Mandal and its adjoining areas and many farmers got an awareness of natural farming, Rekha added. Rekha Mahajan emphasized that the occasion of the Sewa Saptah program aims to connect with the farmers in the next three years for educating them. She said farmers are the real heroes of the nation in building the strong economy of the government under the vibrant leadership of PM Narendra Modi.
Rekha expresses special thanks to Prime Minister Modi and Kisan Morcha National President MP Rajkumar Chahar who encouraged farming in the country and promoted millet farming. She informed with the efforts of the Prime Minister Modi the United National general assembly at its 75th session declared 2023 "The International Year of Millets". Rekha explained the uses of natural and millet farming to the farmers and also highlighted the smart moves of the central government to motivate the farmers to promote the agricultural sector and also made them aware of the connected government schemes to construct the nation. Rekha said that "millet is a very important stable food item which contains lots of nutrition value." We should use millet in our day-to-day diet at least one time a day which will benefit our health she said.
Gharu Ram Bhagat while admiring the Kissan Morcha unit for organizing the mass awareness program said, "We should encourage millet cultivation in our state for economic development and livelihood of rural people." Gharu Ram also accentuated the various programs being organized to mark the social justice week in the District Jammu South. He said that farmers are the spine of the country and play a significant role in the growth of the nation. He said, BJP has always contributed to the expansion of the agriculturalist and is frequently trying to make the farmers flourish and the country progress.
