DC Doda organizes Awareness programmes

DODA, May 8: To mark World Red Cross Day 2023, a series of activities were today held across the District Doda, including Blood donation camps, free Medical/ Consultation camps, Awareness programmes in the health and educational institutions, awareness Rallies, free eye screening camps and other activities. The theme of this year's World Red Cross Day is “Everything we do comes #from the heart.”
The main event was held in the Govt. Higher Secondary School (Boys) Doda to highlight the importance and activities of District Red Cross Society and role of Red Cross organisation in serving humanity across the globe. The day is also observed to pay tribute to Jean Henry Dunant, the founder of the Red Cross Society. Chairman District Red Cross Society, Vishesh Mahajan inaugurated the programme which witnessed debate and painting competitions, symposiums and speeches.
Vishesh Mahajan, also inaugurated blood donation camps at Associated Hospital GMC and Sub District Hospital Bhaderwah. A free testing and consultation for Breast Cancer, organised by the American Oncology Institute in association with World Cancer Care, was also held in SDH Bhaderwah. The free medical/ consultation camp on breast cancer at Sub district Hospital Bhaderwah. ADC Bhadrrwah Ch Dil Mir, Additional SSP Bhaderwah Kameshwer Puri, CMO Doda, Dr Hamid Zargar, BDC Chairpersons, DDC Councillors and others were also present.
A free Eye screening camp was also held at Associated Hospital GMC Doda on the day.
Earlier, the DC and other officers and participants participated and took the Red Cross pledge at GHSS Boys Doda. A rally of students on the Red Cross Day was also flagged off by DC, which passed throughout the Doda town and culminated back at Boys GHSS Doda.
Highlighting the importance of World Red Cross Day, the DC urged upon the youngsters to volunteer for the humane cause and develop in them the principles of universality, impartiality, love, care, and sympathy. He himself donated the blood along with ACR Doda Sanjeev Kumar, Police, and para military personnel at the blood bank of Associated Hospital GMC Doda.
The DC Doda called upon the youth to donate blood for a good cause and asked them to participate in the blood donation camps that shall be organised regularly.
