Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 16: Vodafone Idea (Vi) has partnered with Ericsson to successfully complete a massive charging consolidation program, making it one of the largest of its kind globally. Vi, one of the leading telecom operators, has replaced three existing Online Charging Solutions (OCS) with Ericsson Charging as the unified OCS solution across India. This consolidation project, implemented through the pandemic, demonstrates Vi's commitment to streamlining operations and enhancing customer experience.
With the implementation of Ericsson Charging integrated with Ericsson Policy, Vi now benefits from a simplified prepaid charging stack and a unified architecture for charging and data policy. This consolidation brings uniformity in product offerings, customer experience, life cycle management, and configuration. The project enabled the migration and consolidation of over 300 million Vi subscribers onto the Ericsson Charging system, making it a significant milestone in terms of scale.
The successful execution of this program involved navigating risks and complexities in multi-vendor network integrations and IT integrations. However, the consolidated solution empowers Vi to launch new products faster and meet the demands of today's digital environment more efficiently. It provides a single system for offer creation, user communication, and simplified provisioning, resulting in an enhanced end customer experience.
Jagbir Singh, CTO of Vodafone Idea Limited, expressed satisfaction with the project's outcomes, stating, "Vi successfully managed one of the world's largest telecom network integrations and collaborated with Ericsson for the massive Charging consolidation project. This future-proof and flexible solution will not only enhance customer experience but also enable us to launch new products and services more rapidly."
Amarjeet Singh, Vice President of Sales, West India, Ericsson, emphasized the significance of the partnership, saying, "Ericsson's end-to-end network and IT experience, combined with our deep understanding of customer-specific needs, allows us to offer tailored solutions to Vi. Ericsson Charging will help Vi reduce operational costs, introduce advanced product offerings, and provide a superior customer experience."
Ericsson Charging, a scalable and flexible Business Support Systems (BSS) solution, offers real-time convergent charging, policy control, and fast service creation. With a strong user-experience focus and a future-proof roadmap, it enables Vi to capture revenue streams, seize new digital business opportunities, and stay competitive in the evolving telecommunications landscape.
