Seminar on drug abuse held at BBIA Bhawan

JAMMU, May 16: BBIA in Association with J&K Police Department organized a Drug Abuse and Addiction Awareness at Bari Brahmana Industries Association Bhawan in the august presence of Shakti Kumar Pathak-IPS, DIG Jammu -Samba -Kathua Range as Chief Guest along with Benam Tosh, JKPS SSP Samba, Surinder Choudhary JKPS, Additional SP Samba, Officers of J&K Police Department and other State Govt. departments
While welcoming the Shakti Kumar Pathak-IPS, DIG Jammu -Samba -Kathua Range on his Visit to Bari Brahmana Industrial Complex, Lalit Mahajan, President of the Association highlighted issues related to the units working in Bari Brahmana Industrial Complex, EPIP & Food Park which includes the Drugs Menace in Bari Brahmana Industrial; Complex and surrounding areas with the consternation of Drug Peddlers illegally residing on the State Land at Balole and requested to take remedial measures to stop the selling of Drugs in the Industrial Area. Lalit Mahajan also highlight the other issues regarding the requirement of Additional Deployment of Police Force in the night hours and also posting of Women Police Officer to resolve the problem in the case of Women Industrial Workers in the Complex.
While interacting with BBIA Members, Shakti Kumar Pathak-IPS, DIG Jammu -Samba -Kathua Range assured the members that all possible steps shall be taken for resolving the various issues which were highlighted by the President & sought the support from Industrial Units working in Bari Brahmana in respect of awareness amongst the Industrial Workers and people of surrounding areas as Drug abuse and addiction which is a disease that affects the Brain and Behavior. Addiction to drugs increases the urge to use them, no matter how much harm the drugs may cause. Drugs may be abused to feel good, ease stress or avoid reality. Addiction is when a behavior cannot be stopped, and not just when it puts health in danger or causes financial, emotional and other problems for self or their loved ones that urge to get and use drugs can fill up every minute of the day, even if there is an intention to quit.
Chief guest also deliberating with the Members in respect of various measures to be taken for the awareness amongst the Industrial Workers and for the Local Peoples and also requested the Member Units to adopt Di Addiction Centre by providing the Medical and Pera Medical Staff for the smooth running of Rehabilitation Drug -Di Addiction Centre at Gurha Salathia Vijaypur.
