DC Reasi discusses arrangements for 3- Day Aghar Jitto Mela

REASI, May 16: To discuss the arrangements for the smooth conduct of 3-day Aghar Jitto Mela commencing from 3rd June-2023 in district Reasi, a meeting of district officers of stakeholder departments was held today under the chairpersonship of Deputy Commissioner, Babila Rakhwal here in the Conference Hall DC Office Complex.
Detailed discussions were held on various arrangements including security, sanitation, health care, traffic management, Fire tender, Installation of temporary toilets, drinking water and power supply, checking of rates of important commodities etc.
While addressing the meeting, the DC directed all the district officers to work in coordination for finalizing necessary arrangements and also added that all the arrangements must be put in place well before the commencement of the mela.
The DC urged the local mela committee members to come forward in making the mela a grand success as public participation is of great importance in promoting religious tourism and in boosting the economy of the area.
The Executive Engineer PHE was asked to make adequate arrangements regarding drinking water supply at the mela site, while XEN PDD was directed to provide uninterrupted power supply during the mela days. Regarding providing First aid facilities at the mela site, the DC directed the Chief Medical Officer to deploy a team of doctors and an ambulance for the same. It was decided that District Police would deploy adequate security personnel during mela days. Special directions were given to NHPC for installation of mobile/temporary Toilets.
SDM Katra was nominated as Mela Officer and BDO Katra was directed to ensure sanitation drive.
Besides this, DC asked the officers to install different departmental stalls for generating awareness among the people regarding the various Government schemes.
