Temporary Provision
5/16/2023 11:27:36 PM
Recently Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that the Article 370, which was scrapped by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi led regime, was temporary from the very beginning and the framers of the Constitution had put it there “intelligently.”
Article 370 was mentioned in the index as “Temporary Provision of Article 370”. Even debates on the Article were missing from the records of constituent assembly debates. They were not even printed.
For 70-years people of J&K were told by the Kashmir based politicians that Article 370 is a shield and it’s a permanent provision that cannot be scrapped.
Had Article 370 been a permanent provision in the Constitution it would have remained in force and it could have been amended not abrogated.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi led regime took a historic decision on August 5, 2019, and ended the 70-year long status-quo. It ended all the confusion by writing down Article 370. The complete integration of J&K into the Union of India has made it clear to one and all that J&K had no special status. It was just a temporary provision that has been done away with.
Politicians who are still telling the people that they would get it back need to wake up and smell the coffee. Article 370 can never come back as it has been done away with.
During the past three years people have realized that Article 370 provided privileges to only a selected group of people and it had nothing for a common man.
After 2019, a common man has become a priority. Panchayat representatives have been empowered and they have emerged as the true representatives of the people. Things are moving at a fast pace and J&K is witnessing a massive development.
The time has proven that Article 370 was nothing but an impediment that kept J&K deprived of peace, prosperity and development. People of J&K have understood that the ones who ruled J&K wanted everything for themselves. They were least interested in what people get. The past three years have made it clear that the people are the fountainhead of power and politicians have to work for them rather than working for their own interest.
The Article 370 was a temporary provision of the Constitution and it doesn’t exist anymore, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has made it clear.
