Early Times Report
REASI, May 24: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi, in collaboration with Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies of Jammu (SKUAST-J), initiated a 15-day certificate course on Integrated Nutrient Management (INM). The program received enthusiastic participation from input dealers in Reasi and Udhampur districts. The event was graced by Prof. SK Gupta, Director Extension, SKUAST-J, as the chief guest, and Harbans Singh, Chief Agriculture Officer, Reasi, as the Guest of Honour.
Prof. Gupta highlighted the importance of such courses in upgrading the knowledge of fertilizer dealers and emphasized the significance of Integrated Farming System for sustainable agriculture development. He commended KVK, Reasi, for organizing such valuable programs.
Harbans Singh provided detailed insights into Integrated Nutrient Management in crops, emphasizing its role in enhancing profitability. He guided participants on soil analysis, soil health management, and the balanced use of manures and fertilizers for higher yields.
Dr. Banarsi Lal, Sr. Scientist & Head of KVK, Reasi, extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries and outlined the objectives of the program. He emphasized the need for awareness on Integrated Nutrient Management among input dealers, as they can further act as extension agents to disseminate information to farmers in their respective areas. Dr. Lal stressed the importance of organic and natural farming for safe and quality food production.
The program included informative sessions on vermicomposting technology, soil health management, macro and micro-nutrient requirements, agro-advisory services, and bookkeeping practices for input dealers. A farmer-scientist interaction session provided participants with the opportunity to address their queries, which were satisfactorily answered by the experts.
The program was successfully conducted with the assistance of Sh. Mohd. Iqbal and Sh. Sanjay Kumar. Dr. Lobzung Stanzen concluded the event with a formal vote of thanks.
