Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 24: Central Sanskrit University in Jammu recently inaugurated the IGNOU Learner Support Centre at its Shri Ranbir campus Kot Bhalwal. This initiative is a result of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and Central Sanskrit University (CSU). CSU, with its main campus in New Delhi and twelve regional campuses across the country, aims to provide learner support centres for various IGNOU programs.
The Learner Support Centre at Central Sanskrit University Jammu campus has been designated with the Centre Code 12132 by IGNOU's Regional Services Division in New Delhi. The centre will support programs such as Master of Arts in Jyotish (MAJY), Master of Arts in Sanskrit (MSK), Masters in Vedic Studies (MAVESO), and other related courses.
The inauguration ceremony was conducted both in person at Shri Ranbir campus and online. The event featured Professor Shishir Kumar Pandey, Head of the Department of Hindi at Jagadguru Rambhadracharya Divyanga University, Chitrakoot, as the Chief Guest. Dr. Sandeep Gupta, Regional Director of IGNOU Regional Centre Jammu, joined as the Guest of Honour via online mode. Dr. Asha Upadhyay, Regional Director In-Charge, and Dr. Vikram Singh, Assistant Regional Director of IGNOU RC Jammu, were also present at the Kot Bhalwal campus of Central Sanskrit University. The program included Vedic Mangalacharan by Dr. Anay Mani Tripathi, a welcome address by Dr. Yogendra Dikshit, and coordination by Dr. Sarvesh Tripathi.
The MAJY program aims to educate students on Indian oriental science, including time knowledge, planetary motion, solar and lunar eclipses, and the practical application of these concepts in human life. The program provides authentic and detailed knowledge of these subjects along with the study of astrology called Vedanga. The Masters in Vedic Studies (MAVESO) program is offered in collaboration with the International Centre for Integral Studies (ICIS). Furthermore, the Master of Arts in Sanskrit (MSK) program exposes students to a wide range of Sanskrit language and literature.
The establishment of the IGNOU Learner Support Centre at Central Sanskrit University Jammu will enhance educational opportunities and support students in their pursuit of Sanskrit, Jyotish, and Vedic studies
