Don't pay heed towards fake propaganda against SHO, Raghubir Singh, says social activist Pankaj Sharma | 'He has tightened noose around drug peddlers, bovine smugglers and criminals' | | Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, May 24: Prominent social activist of Udhampur, Pankaj Sharma on Wednesday said that fake propaganda and rumours are being spread against Station House Officer Udhampur, Raghubir Singh. Talking to Early Times Sharma said, "A fake post of a few youth was put on social media to tarnish their image and malign them. These youths registered a FIR at Police Station Udhampur against the accused persons." " Police took cognizance of the FIR lodged by the youth and summoned the accused for questioning. Police did its job by investigating the matter. So what's wrong in it," Sharma said. He said, "A propaganda has been unleashed against SHO Raghubir Singh that he clicked a picture with a drug peddler. When Singh took over as SHO Udhampur many people met him and clicked photographs with him. SHO Raghubir Singh was new to the area and he was unaware about the antecedents of the people who met him." Sharma said, "Soon after Rahubir Singh took charge of Police Station Udhampur he tightened the noose around the drug peddlers and the bovine smugglers in the area." He said, "When SHO Rahubir Singh became aware of who's who, he acted against them, arrested the drug peddler and registered a FIR against him." Sharma said, "SHO Rahubir Singh called the boys for questioning who made an attempt to malign the image of a few youth by indulging in malicious propaganda against them. So what wrong did SHO Raghubir Singh do by summoning the accused? It was a routine investigation." Sharma said, "I know that I could be threatened or even killed for speaking the truth as I have spoken against someone. I want to tell the people and the J&K Police Department that SHO Raghubir Singh has performed his job sincerely and with full dedication. The department should stand with their officer as the people of Udhampur are standing by him." Sharma said, "Recently a photograph of Harshdev Singh standing with a drug peddler went viral on the social media. Does it mean that Harshdev Sigh ji is in league with the drug peddler? Tomorrow my picture can go viral on social media. Would it mean that I am also in league with the person with whom I have clicked the photo?" "Anyone can get a photo clicked but that doesn't mean that a person whose photo has been clicked is an accomplice," he added. |
