Director Inaugurates 'Job Fair' at Employment Complex
5/31/2023 12:05:12 AM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 30: Nisar Ahmad Wani, Director of Employment, inaugurated a one-day 'Job Fair' at the Employment Complex in Toph Sherkhania, Jammu. The event, organized by the District Employment and Counseling Centre, Jammu, saw participation from eighteen companies offering more than 500 jobs across various sectors. The job fair received an overwhelming response, with over 1000 youth participating.
During the inauguration, the Director interacted with both job providers and job seekers, emphasizing the significance of such events for the educated unemployed youth in the region. He highlighted the government's efforts in facilitating employment opportunities in the private sector through regular job fairs. The main objective of these events is to bridge the gap between job seekers and job providers by providing a common platform. The Director encouraged the participants to explore diverse career choices and seek employment opportunities in addition to considering self-employment.
The Director emphasized that job fairs provide private companies with a platform to showcase their vacancies and skill requirements while offering on-the-spot recruitments. Simultaneously, unemployed youth can interact with multiple companies, learn about in-demand skills, and secure gainful employment.
Dr. Khalid Hussain Malik, Joint Director of Employment, also addressed the event, highlighting the importance of the job fair.
Eighteen companies from various sectors, including HDFC Bank Limited, Axis Bank Limited, Bajaj Allianz Limited, Jio Mart, Emcure Pharmaceuticals, Ravenbhel Biotech, Paytm, Innov Solutions, and Fairdeal Motors, participated in the fair with job vacancies in Jammu and nearby areas.
Out of the 1000 job seekers, 160 candidates were shortlisted by the participating companies.
It is worth mentioning that the Department of Employment regularly organizes such job fairs in addition to quarterly job fairs in every district of Jammu and Kashmir through the District Employment & Counseling Centers.
The Department of Employment is also actively engaged in other activities such as counseling, registration on the employment portal (www.jakemp.nic.in), raising awareness about self-employment schemes, and providing guidance and motivation to unemployed youth for self-employment or employment in the public and private sectors.
