Early Times Report

Udhampur, May 30: Deepu, a lone bread earner of his family, fell prey to the bullets of Pakistan sponsored terrorists at Janglat Mandi Anantnag in South Kashmir on Monday evening.
Deepu, resident of Udhampur, was working at a private circus at Amusement Park in Anantnag. Terrorists shot him from a point blank range after asking his name.
Deepu’s family comprising of his old father, a blind brother, his children and deceased’s own family were shell shocked when they received the news of his cold blooded murder.
Pall of gloom descended over his native village as entire area went into mourning.
Deepu had gone to Kashmir to earn his livelihood and had nothing to do with the politics. His only objective was to earn for his family members so that they could manage two square meals in a day.
His family lives in a mud house in a village in Udhampur and Deepu was their only support. “We want to know why he was killed What was his fault Does any religion permit killing of innocents?” asked locals.
“Terrorists and terror have no religion. What have they achieved by killing an innocent man?” locals asked.
Deepu’s family members were in a shock and couldn’t speak. They were inconsolable. “Deepu’s family is poor. He was our brother and his family is our family. Entire village has decided to take the responsibility of his family,” locals said.
They demanded stern punishment for killers and urged the government to act tough against the terrorists who indulge in target killings of the members of the minority community in Kashmir. “Terrorists and their sponsors should be taught a lesson,” locals said.
They said that no words are enough to condemn Deepu’s killing and nothing can compensate the loss of the bereaved family but the government should step in and help them.
Meanwhile, J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced Rs 5 lakh relief to Deepu’s family and directed the district administration to provide all assistance to the bereaved.
