Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, May 30: Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor, presided over the 27th Board of Directors (BoDs) meeting of the Jammu and Kashmir Women's Development Corporation (JKWDC) today in Srinagar.
The meeting was attended by Sheetal Nanda, Commissioner Secretary of the Social Welfare Department, Ulfat Jabeen, Managing Director of JKWDC, DG of Budget, and representatives from various departments and corporations.
Discussions during the meeting covered a range of topics related to the corporation's operations, including the action taken report from the previous board meeting. Strategies and initiatives aimed at enhancing women's development and welfare in Jammu and Kashmir were also discussed.
Advisor Bhatnagar highlighted the corporation's commitment to empowering women from diverse backgrounds, emphasizing the importance of their economic independence and equal participation in society. He stressed the need for inclusive programs that address the unique challenges faced by women in the region, recognizing that women's empowerment is crucial for the overall development of Jammu and Kashmir.
Appreciating the corporation's performance in the previous financial year, Advisor Bhatnagar urged the management to conduct extensive awareness campaigns in all districts of Jammu and Kashmir to ensure maximum participation of women in the various schemes offered by JKWDC. He also requested them to revise targets for the ongoing financial year to include more women under the umbrella of JKWDC.
The meeting reviewed the progress of ongoing schemes, assessed their impact on women's lives, and explored opportunities to further strengthen efforts. The discussion focused on identifying areas where the corporation can expand its reach and engage with marginalized communities, ensuring that every woman is included and supported.
The BoDs approved and adopted the draft Balance Sheet for the year 2021-22. It was also decided that vacant positions would be filled only after the corporation notifies the proper recruitment rules with the approval of the Administrative department.
