Early Times Report JAMMU, May 30: Chief Secretary, Dr Arun Kumar Mehta, visited Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu, to personally inquire about the condition of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi bound pilgrims who were involved in an accident near Jhajjer Kotli. Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, the Chief Secretary directed that the injured pilgrims receive the best possible medical care. He also offered prayers for those who lost their lives in the mishap and extended heartfelt condolences to their families. The government will provide all necessary facilities and relief to the victims and their families. The Chief Secretary instructed the Divisional Administration to investigate the causes of the road accident to prevent such incidents in the future. According to reports, the accident resulted in the loss of 10 lives, with 57 individuals sustaining injuries after their bus skidded off the bridge and fell into a gorge at Jhajjer Kotli in Jammu district. The local Administration, in collaboration with the Security Forces, promptly conducted a rescue operation, recovering all the bodies and transferring the injured to GMC Jammu for treatment. |
