| DC reviews progress of farmers producer organizations | | | Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, June 2: Deputy Commissioner Sachin Kumar Vaishya chaired a meeting in the Mini Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex to review the progress of formation and promotion of Farmers Producer Organizations (FPOs) under the central sector. The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Ghan Sham Singh and heads of various line departments in the district.
The meeting focused on the functioning of FPOs in the district and discussed ways to enhance production, branding, and marketing under the NABARD sector's centrally sponsored scheme. Deputy Commissioner Vaishya highlighted that FPOs serve as a platform for small farmers to collectively address challenges related to accessing agricultural inputs and establishing reliable market linkages.
The concerned department was instructed to share the business plan of the existing FPOs in the district. The DC emphasized the need for quarterly meetings with stakeholders to streamline and improve the functioning of the district. Additionally, the department was directed to provide updates on the deliverables achieved at each stage. The ADDC was entrusted with the responsibility of personally monitoring the operations of all FPOs in the district. |
