Drug peddlers’ assault cops with sharp edged weapons, 6 injured
Repeated attacks on policemen expose powerful connections of criminals
6/2/2023 11:02:56 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, June 2: Within days after family members of notorious female drug peddler Jano Bibi made an abortive attempt to take her away from police custody without any fear, a group of cops was severely beaten by another gang of drug mafia in the Sarore Add area of Samba district.
On Thursday evening, a group of drug traffickers attacked a team of police that had gone to conduct patrolling in a narcotic hotspot in Vijaypur. Without any fear, drug traffickers resorted to attacking cops with shard-edged weapons and roads.
Six cops were injured, including one of them seriously, in the attack.
Two successive attacks on cops by the dreaded drug traffickers have exposed the helplessness of the policemen in dealing with this menace.
Shockingly, one of the cops was seriously injured in the attack by drug traffickers who have links at higher levels.
Highly placed sources said that the helpless cops have failed to create any fear among the notorious but influential drug lords who have political and bureaucratic connections.
“It was all due to higher level connections of the drug mafia that cops are hesitating to take effective action against them”, sources said.
As reported earlier on May 24, family members of notorious drug trafficker Jano Bibi alias “Bhabhi” attacked cops in full public view to take her away from the custody of the police.
On May 19, Samba Police arrested the notorious drug trafficker Jano Bibi alias “Bhabhi”, who was doing drug bussiness for a long with the patronage of some “influential” persons.
In April this year, a police party was attacked by the notorious drug mafia in the Vijaypur area of Samba district.
Drug traffickers attacked the cops when they were patrolling in the infamous “chitta” hotspot Rakh Barotian in Vijaypur.
A dreaded criminal who was wanted in connection with an attack on a police team in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district was arrested on April 23.
He has been identified as notorious criminal Talib Hussain nicknamed “Moshu” of Supwal tehsil. Police succeeded in arresting “Moshu” in the Vijaypur area during a surprise raid.
“Moshu” was one of the main accused wanted in the attack on the police team.
