Early Times Report JAMMU, June 2: Today, the Sher-I-Kashmir Police Academy, in collaboration with the Cell for IPR Promotion & Management (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industries, Government of India, is organizing a two-day course on "Intellectual Property Rights." The training program has attracted 19 officers from various wings of the Jammu and Kashmir Police. The course aims to fulfill several key objectives, including providing an overview of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs), introducing the importance of IPRs in India, discussing biotechnology and intellectual property, exploring research and IPRs management, highlighting the need for patent and trademark protection, providing insights into the Trade Marks Act and Copyrights Act, addressing counterfeiting and piracy in the physical and digital realms, and discussing the enforcement of IPRs through global best practices, challenges, and success stories. Eminent guest faculties from CIPAM in New Delhi have been invited to share their vast experiences with the participants. The inaugural function witnessed the presence of Rajinder Kumar Gupta, JKPS, SSP, Dy. Director (Indoor), as the chief guest. Shri Gupta warmly welcomed all the participants on behalf of the Director of SKPA. During his address, he provided a brief introduction to Intellectual Property Rights and emphasized the need for their adequate enforcement, particularly in the rapidly growing Indian economy. The inaugural function was attended by the member faculty of SKPA as well. The coordination of the course is being handled by Sukhvir Singh, Dy.SP, AD(Outdoor), with assistance from Chander Mohan Sharma, Inspr., a member of the faculty. |
