GDC Kathua collaborates with directorate of AYUSH for Yogamahotsav-2023 at GDC Kathua

JAMMU, June 2: Principal Prof. Seema Mir inaugurated the Yoga Mahotsav-2023 at College Multipurpose hall today. The program was jointly organized by the Department of Physical Education and Sports GDC Kathua, in collaboration with the Directorate of AYUSH, Department of Health and Family Welfare Kathua. The aim of the program was to create awareness about the ancient tradition of Yoga and its benefits in daily life. This Yoga Mahotsav served as a countdown to the International Yoga Day 2023.
The esteemed Principal Prof. Seema Mir received a warm reception from the students and the organizing committee of the Yoga Mahotsav-2023. Accompanying the Principal were senior faculty members of the college, including Prof. Raj Kiran, Convener College Sports Board, Prof. Jasvinder Singh, HOD Physical Education and Convenor IQAC, Prof. Shivani Kotwal, HOD English and Dean Students Welfare, Dr. Suraesh Sharma, NSS Programme Officer, and Prof. Manmohan Singh, HOD History and NSS Programme Officer.
The competition was conducted under the overall supervision of Principal Prof. Seema Mir. A formal welcome address was presented by Prof. Rajkiran Sharma from the Department of Physics, expressing appreciation for the Principal's dedicated efforts towards the overall development of GDC Kathua.
Principal Prof. Seema Mir, in her address to the students, faculty, and officials of the Directorate of AYUSH, commended the efforts in imparting knowledge of Yoga to the students and the community. She welcomed the steps taken by the Government of India to promote Yoga and individual health. Prof. Seema Mir also praised the Department of Physical Education for coordinating this important event and encouraged students to actively participate in extracurricular activities such as the National Cadet Corps, National Service Scheme, and sports.
Dr. J. S. Soodan, Physical Director and the organizing Secretary of Yoga Mahotsav-2023, conducted the proceedings of the event. A medicine stall was installed on the premises of GDC Kathua for the students and faculty. The Yoga session was attended by the Principal, faculty members, and students.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Suresh Sharma, NSS Programme Officer at GDC Kathua. Dr. Verender Singh, NCC ANO, and Dr. Amrik Singh, ANO Naval, were also present at the event.
