Patil assures due respect to ex-Azad loyalists amid resentment among “returnee traitors”

Early Times Report

Jammu, June 3: Amid strong resentment among ex-loyalists of Ghulam Nabi Azad for being sidelined and repeatedly humiliated in the party by their juniors, AICC incharge J&K Rajni Patil on Saturday assured that due respect will be given to those who have joined or joining the Congress from other parties. According to an official handout issued by the party, this was conveyed by the AICC to the JKPCC leadership, during a meeting chaired by the AICC general secretary incharge organization KC Venugopal MP. The meeting was attended by Rajni Patil and JKPCC president Vikar Rasool Wani and other senior leaders from J&K.
This statement of Rajni Patil attached importance because ex-loyalists of Ghulam Nabi Azad, who ditched their former political mentor and rejoined Congress are not happy with the treatment being meted out to them by the incumbent leadership.
As reported earlier by The Early Times, some ex-loyalists of Ghulam Nabi Azad are trying to explore the possibility of joining other political parties for a better political career.
Some former loyalists of Ghulam Nabi Azad, who have rejoined the Congress party, have been sidelined in the party. The incumbent Congress leadership is not ready to give previous positions to these “traitors” who first “ditched” the party for Ghulam Nabi Azad and later “backstabbed” Azad also.
Nearly twenty loyalists of Ghulam Nabi Azad, including two political stalwarts who were expelled from the Democratic Azad Party (DAP), rejoined the Congress party in New Delhi on January 6, 2023.
Former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand along with former J&K Congress chief Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, ex-MLA Thakur Balwan Singh, and others rejoined the Congress party.
The leaders had resigned in support of former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, who later floated his own party—the Democratic Azad Party, now renamed Democratic Progressive Azad Party.
