6/4/2023 10:55:04 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, June 4: The three-day National Water Colour Painter’s Camp, organized by Jammu & Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts (JKCCA), was inaugurated on June 3rd, 2023. The camp, held at J&K Tourist Complex, Mansar (Samba, J&K), has attracted artists from different parts of the country. Participants include Rani Parsad from Delhi, Pratima Singh from Lucknow (UP), O P Sharma from Jammu (J&K), Ritika Verma from Jammu, Sahil Sodhi, Atul Mattu, and Kavi Chouhan from Amritsar (Punjab).
The camp aims to promote the art of water colour painting as a medium of expression. Water colours, although popular in the past, have been somewhat neglected in contemporary art due to technological advancements. The camp seeks to revitalize the use of water colours and provide a platform for artists to showcase their skills. By organizing such camps, JKCCA hopes to reintroduce the traditional use of water colours, particularly for landscapes and other art forms. JKCCA, established in 1999, is a prominent organization in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. Its primary objective is to preserve, promote, and activate the rich art heritage of Jammu & Kashmir. Over the years, JKCCA has organized numerous art, cultural, and literary activities, including state, national, and international art exhibitions.
