6/16/2023 11:00:34 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, June 16: To promote the traditional culture of Jammu and Kashmir, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS) collaborated with Sangam Tru Art Production to mount a one-week special awareness campaign on pollution. As part of the campaign, they presented the 364th Friday Series Musical Concert titled “Pardushan Hatao Jan Bachao” (Eradicate Pollution, Save Lives) at Durga Bhawan in Janipur, Jammu. The program aimed to improve pollution awareness and urge governments to adjust policies to reduce pollution’s impact. The event was inaugurated by Sh. V.K. Magotra, Former Regional Director of the Directorate of Field Publicity, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, and Mukesh Singh, Media Person of the Shadow Newspaper & Former Chief Medical Officer of Jammu and Kashmir Government. Dr. Tara Singh Charak presided over the function.
The day was also commemorated as “Anti-Pollution Week” with the sole aim of revitalizing the traditional and primitive folk art and culture of the Jammu and Kashmir region, as well as the Indian nation as a whole. Various awareness items were specially prepared on themes like “Pardushan Cha Bacho” (Save Children from Pollution), “Chara Da Bukhar - Roko Roko Pardushan Gi Roko” (Stop Pollution: Stop the Fever of Destruction), and “Aaj kal di Hawa Badi Kharab” (The Air Nowadays is Very Polluted). Skits, songs, and dances were presented to raise awareness among the masses. The Chief Guest emphasized that communication about air quality has the potential to reduce the adverse effects of air pollution by generating awareness, catalyzing public opinion, and supporting policies for pollution reduction.
Throughout the month, BLSKS will be presenting seven shows in Manwal, Arnia, Digaina, Mathwar, Reasi, Nagrota, and various villages and blocks of Jammu District to raise awareness among the masses. The songs on the theme of pollution were written, produced, and directed by Dr. Dogra. They were also presented and uploaded online on social media platforms for the benefit of the people.
In his opening remarks, Dr. M.L. Dogra, Chairman of BLSKS, highlighted that major forms of pollution include air pollution, light pollution, litter, noise pollution, plastic pollution, soil contamination, radioactive contamination, thermal pollution, visual pollution, and water pollution. Public awareness plays a crucial role in preventing environmental degradation. Mobilizing the masses to take action when government and state policies fail is essential due to the alarming rate at which climate change and pollution are harming the world. Creating awareness against environmental pollution among the public can be achieved through various means such as conducting rallies, organizing community meetings with local administration, and involving people in these initiatives.
Environmental awareness is critical as it can help minimize pollution, combat global warming, and promote the use of renewable resources such as solar, wind, and water. Communication about air quality can significantly reduce the adverse effects of air pollution by generating awareness and public support for pollution reduction policies. Social awareness, or socialization, is an important skill for children to develop, enabling them to build positive relationships and make responsible decisions. Furthermore, social awareness is crucial for emotional well-being. All types of pollution have negative impacts on our environment, affecting the lives of humans and animals. It is our responsibility to take various initiatives to protect nature and work towards a better future.
The musical play featured performances by singers, musicians, actors, and students from music and computer institutes. Notable performers included
