Police foils bovine smuggling, rescues 53 animals, arrests smugglers

REASI, June 17: In a relentless drive against bovine smuggling in District Reasi, the teams of District Police Reasi successfully foiled five smuggling attempts and rescued a total of 53 bovines. Seven bovine smugglers were apprehended during the operations.
During a surprise naka at Arital, Mahore Area, the team from Police Station Mahore intercepted Farooq Ahmed, son of Abdul Hamid, resident of Nihoch Tehsil Mahore, and rescued 13 bovines from his possession. A case FIR No. 67/2023 U/S 188 IPC has been registered at Police Station Mahore, and an investigation has been initiated.
In another incident at Gajnawali, Mahore Area, the team from Police Station Mahore intercepted Saliman, son of Ali Mohd, resident of Sildhar Tehsil Mahore, and rescued six bovines. A case FIR No. 68/2023 U/S 188 IPC has been registered at Police Station Mahore, and an investigation has been initiated.
Similarly, at Kaidora, Mahore area, the team from Police Station Mahore intercepted Farooq Mohd Ashraf, son of Abdul Rehman, resident of Nihoch Tehsil Mahore, and rescued 14 bovines. A case FIR No. 69/2023 U/S 188 IPC has been registered at Police Station Mahore, and an investigation has been initiated.
In separate incidents, the team from PP Thanole rescued six bovines at Khandi Gali, Dhakikote, from the clutches of bovine smuggler Bhutto Khan, son of Qasam Din, resident of Chak Mathyani, Tehsil Khwaas, District Rajouri. Another team from Police Station Chassana rescued 14 bovines at Sungri Kotli, apprehending three bovine smugglers: Mithu, son of Noora; Mohd Latif, son of Mohd Bashir; and Mohd Shafi Chache, son of Mohd Qasim Chache, residents of Jij Bagli Tehsil Thakrakote District Reasi. The accused were attempting to transport the bovines to Srinagar without DM permission.
Cases have been registered against the smugglers, and the accused have been arrested.
SSP Reasi, Amit Gupta - JKPS, stated that Reasi Police is committed to eradicating the menace of bovine smuggling to establish peace and tranquility in the region.
