42% increase in candidates for SKUAST-J CET UG 2023

JAMMU, June 17: The Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J), led by Prof. S.K. Gupta, Vice Chancellor, successfully conducted the Common Entrance Test-2023 (CET) for undergraduate degree programs on June 17, 2023. The Vice Chancellor personally visited all the examination centers to oversee the process. Prof. Rajinder Peshin, I/C University Examination Cell, SKUAST-Jammu, supervised the examination conducted at five different centers: GGM Science College, Jammu; SPMR Commerce College, Jammu; Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar; Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, R S Pura; and Faculty of Agriculture, Chatha.
The response to the entrance examination for admission to various undergraduate programs in the university was overwhelming. Out of a total of 3,291 applicants, 2,775 candidates, including those from other states, appeared in the CET-2023, which accounted for 84.30% of the total applicants. The available seats for admission include B.Sc Hons Agriculture, B.V.Sc &AH, B.Tech Biotechnology, B.Sc Hons Horticulture, B.Tech Agricultural Engineering, and B.Tech Dairy Technology, totaling 337 seats. Additionally, there are 19 seats reserved for economically weaker sections of society, 39 seats under the ICAR and Veterinary Council quota, and 8 seats under the state government quota. This year, the number of candidates increased significantly compared to last year, with a 32.3% increase in applicants and a 42.5% increase in candidates who appeared for the exam compared to 2022.
The test was conducted smoothly, thanks to the support of the staff, principals, and deans of the participating institutions. The university's Flying Squad, consisting of Dr. Rakesh Nanda, Director of Education; Dr. S. K. Gupta, Registrar; and Dr. B. C. Sharma, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, visited the centers to ensure the proper conduct of the entrance examination, as stated by Prof. Rajinder Peshin, I/C University Examination Cell, SKUAST-Jammu. The university will upload the answer key on its website, along with the results, counseling schedule, and other updates available at www.skuast.org. Students will have the opportunity to raise objections to the answer key within the specified timeframe. They are also permitted to retain a carbon copy of their answer sheets for reference.
