JAMMU, June 17: Natrang, a renowned theater group, commemorated the 201st coronation day of Maharaja Gulab Singh by showcasing the highly acclaimed Hindi film 'Gulab Gatha' at the Natrang Studio Theatre. The film, conceptualized, written, and directed by Padamshree Balwant Thakur, received support from the Maharaja Gulab Singh Memorial Trust. The screening aimed to educate younger generations about their rich history, as local history is unfortunately not taught in schools, leaving the youth disconnected from their heritage and culture.
The film 'Gulab Gatha' serves as a means to bridge that gap and create awareness about the legacy of the 100 years of Dogra rule. Dr. Karan Singh, the Chairman of the Maharaja Gulab Singh Memorial Trust, inspired Balwant Thakur to create this film after years of research and fact-finding. The story revolves around the journey of Maharaja Gulab Singh, highlighting his courage, sacrifice, and strategic intelligence in establishing and ruling a kingdom. The lead role is played by Sunil Kumar Palwal, a talented actor with notable credits in films and TV serials. The film received technical coordination from a Mumbai-based crew, ensuring a high-quality production. |
