DC Kishtwar inaugurates Jal Shakti Kendra

KISHTWAR, June 17: Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Dr Devansh Yadav inaugurated Jal Shakti Kendra here under ‘Jal Shakti Abhiyan – Catch the Rain’ campaign. Executive Engineer Jal Shakti Department, Sunil Sharma was also present at the inaugural ceremony held, the other day. The Jal Shakti Kendra would act as a knowledge centre for dissemination of information related to water conservation techniques and it will be manned by senior officers/officials of the department including IEC district Coordinator. Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that the main objective of opening of Jal Shakti Kendra is to generate awareness among the general public and all stakeholders regarding water conservation /preservation methods including rain water harvesting, renovation of traditional and other water bodies/tanks, reuse and recharge of bore wells preservation and judicious use of water. He informed that the main motive to establish Jal Shakti Kendra is to spread mass awareness about the Jal Jeevan Mission and different schemes under this prestigious project with the aim to provide “Har Ghar Jal”. He urged the general public to develop water saving habits and use the precious natural resources judiciously to save it for future generations. Executive Engineer PHED Sunil Sharma also stressed on the need to adopt Rain water harvesting including Roof Top Rain Water Harvesting, percolation pits, check dams, diversion drains, road side drains to conserve rain water for subsequent use in different activities. Among others, IEC Coordinator for district Riaz Ahmed Butt, JE Jal Shakti Department Vishal and representatives of ISA and other officers of the concerned were present on the occasion.
