Environmental public hearing held in village Badla

Jammu, June 18L: The Jammu and Kashmir Pollution Control Committee conducted a public hearing on 17-06-2023 at Village Badla, Samba. The purpose of the hearing was to discuss the Environmental Clearance of the Minor Mineral (River Bed Material) Block 4/1 Upstream NH1A bridge Bei River. The event was attended by a large number of residents from Village Badla, Nichla, Samityal, Surara, and neighboring areas, along with public representatives, Sarpanches/Panches, and respected individuals from the community.
During the hearing,. H.S. Galoch (AEE), representing the Regional Director of JKPCC Jammu, provided an overview of the importance of conducting public hearings and the role of JKPCC. The project consultant from M/s P&M Solution, Noida (UP) presented the salient features, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), and Environmental Management Plan of the project. Various speakers raised queries and discussed issues related to mining during the proceeding.
Mohd Sayeed (JKAS), District Mineral Officer, Samba, and Sh. Omi Raj Sombria, Tehsildar Ghagwal, representing the Deputy Commissioner of Samba, also attended the public hearing. They addressed the gathering, assured that all important concerns raised by the affected people would be recorded through videography, and incorporated into the report to be submitted to the Competent Authority. Deepak Abrol, Divisional Officer of JKPCC, Samba (South), provided individual briefings on the public hearing and Environmental Clearance, and responded to queries raised by the public.
The proceedings were anchored by Subash Chander (DM) JKPCC, Samba (South), who extended a vote of thanks to the chair and all participants.
