JKCA conducts first general body meet, launches membership drive

Jammu, June 17: The Jammu and Kashmir Cine Association (JKCA), a leading organization advocating for the development of art, culture, and cinema in JKUT, held its inaugural general body meeting today. The meeting, which took place at K L Saigal Hall, Abhinav Theatre, witnessed the participation of nearly 100 individuals from various fields of art, culture, and cinema. The gathering aimed to address the concerns of artists and unite them under the umbrella of JKCA to promote, preserve, and advance cinema, theater, and art in the Union Territory.
While the meeting primarily focused on the membership drive and fostering camaraderie among the artists, it also discussed several issues and proposed measures to ensure the future growth and vibrancy of Jammu and the entire UT in the cultural sphere.
During the event, the President of the association, Dharminder Kohli, highlighted the collective efforts needed for the community to achieve equality with its counterparts. He emphasized that JKCA was formed as a mass organization where every individual is welcome, regardless of their personal commitments. Kohli stated that JKCA is for everyone and urged a reciprocal approach in embracing the association.
Atul Vinod Duggal, the General Secretary, provided a brief overview of the association's vision and received an enthusiastic response. He emphasized the importance of looking beyond personal interests to give the initiative a strong start. As a unique concept, certificates and welcome letters were presented to the members, featuring their names, production houses, and other individual credits. This gesture was highly appreciated by the attendees.
Concluding the meeting, Rajesh Khajuria expressed gratitude to the participants and new members who joined the association. He emphasized that this collective effort would foster unity and brotherhood among artists. Khajuria expressed the association's desire for the government, under the able administration of Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha, to implement the JK Film Policy for the benefit of all.
