6/19/2023 10:26:00 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 19: Rajesh Mukhi, a senior member of Tawi Trekkers J&K and a contender for participation in the organization's expedition to Mount Everest in 2025, has commenced his Everest preparation by embarking on a trekking expedition to Everest Base Camp and a mountaineering expedition to Imja Tse (Island Peak) in Nepal. He has obtained a climbing permit from the Nepal Mountaineering Association, allowing him to climb the 6165m peak until June 30, 2023. To ensure a smooth expedition, he has enlisted the services of Mingma Nuru Sherpa from Ramblers Nepal Trekking & Adventure P. Ltd.
It is noteworthy that Tawi Trekkers J&K, a pioneering trekking organization in Jammu and Kashmir, has planned a prestigious mountaineering expedition to Mount Everest in 2025. In preparation for the expedition, Sumit Khajuria, an experienced mountaineer and club member, has been tasked with organizing four pre-Everest expeditions in 2023 and 2024 to select the team members. Prospective participants have been advised to prepare themselves individually by participating in mountaineering expeditions to peaks above 6000m.
It is important to mention that only those climbers from Tawi Trekkers J&K who have successfully completed the Advanced Course in Mountaineering, scaled two peaks over 6000m, and one peak over 7000m will be considered for selection in the Mount Everest expedition. The estimated cost per participant for the expedition is around Rs. 30 lakhs.
In the meantime, Rajesh Mukhi, who achieved the feat of scaling Wilson Peak, the highest peak in Antarctica, in 2017, has reached Lobuche (4940m) after a seven-day trek from Lacula. He is scheduled to reach the Everest Base Camp tomorrow, from where he will commence the mountaineering expedition to Island Peak.
