Chenab College of education hosts guest lecture on Communicative English Skills

JAMMU, June 19: The Chenab College of Education organized a Guest Lecture as part of its ongoing Expert Lecture Series on the theme "Soft Skills & their Importance in Communicative English." This lecture marked the second session in the series, focusing on the topic "Enhancing Communicative English Skills for Effective Communication."
The Expert Lecture Series commenced on June 14, 2023, with the first lecture delivered on the topic "Role of Soft Skills in Communicative English" by Prof. (Dr.) Ravinder Singh from the Department of English, University of Jammu.
Continuing the series, the recent lecture featured Dr. Subhash Chander, Head of the Department of English at Bhaderwah Campus, University of Jammu, as the esteemed Resource Person. Dr. Subhash shed light on the significance of soft skills in the communication process, emphasizing how they contribute to building stronger relationships with colleagues, clients, and other professional contacts. He elaborated on various soft skills that can benefit teacher educators and prospective teachers, both in their personal and professional lives. The interactive session included a focus on phonetics, stress, intonation, and voice modulation in communicative English. The lecture proved highly engaging, with the interactive session providing valuable information to the attendees.
The lecture was attended by 30 students enrolled in the B.Ed. 2nd semester program. Following the lecture, an interactive session took place, allowing students to clarify doubts and queries related to verbal and non-verbal aspects of communicative skills. The program proved to be an interesting and informative experience for all participants, particularly for prospective teachers. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Sunita K. Sharma, the Principal of the College, followed by refreshments for all attendees.
