ODISHA, June 22: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of J&K, Kavinder Gupta on Thursday said that commitment of Modi Government towards welfare of tribals is exemplary as lot of initiatives have been taken to uplift this section of Indians which remained marginalized due to prejudice shown by successive governments in the country. Addressing a gathering of tribal community members during his visit to tribal areas here, the former deputy Chief Minister said that the Centre has accomplished remarkable work in empowering the Tribals of the country as the Tribal Sub Plan budget run by the Modi government is the testimony to this fact because it has been increased 4 times from Rs 21,000 crores to Rs 86,000 crores. "Much work has been done like providing tap water to 1.28 crore houses, 1.45 crore toilets, 82 lakh Ayushman cards and 38 lakh houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana by the Modi government under Jal Jeevan Mission for tribal society. The budget of Eklavya Model Schools has been increased from Rs 278 crore to Rs 1418 crore and the budget of scholarships for tribal students has been increased from Rs 978 crore to Rs 2546 crore. Apart from this, 3110 Van Dhan Vikas Kendras and 53,000 Van Dhan Self Help Groups have been established with a budget of Rs 327 crore under the new scheme for the purpose of entrepreneurship development", he said, adding that much more has been accomplished and further many things are in pipeline to provide justice to this historically marginalized section of people. Pratap Sarangi, ex Central Government Minister and Member Parliament; Bishnu Das Cluster Incharge; Umakanta Mohapatra district President, District Media Coordinator Anil Kumar Mohanty, Secretary Bijay Sahoo, General Secretary Parshuram Parida and others accompanied Kavinder Gupta during his visit to Tribal areas. Later, Kavinder visited the Information Center, Book Stall and Health Camp besides participating in Bhagwan Jagannath Yatra here. The BJP stalwart leader from J&K also addressed the Morcha Karyakartas and visited the BJP office. Kavinder thereafter felicitated two Sanskrit Scholars Gobinda Soren and Sita Marndi pursuing Ph.D in Sanskrit. Claiming that Sanskrit language is mother of all languages, Kavinder batted for preserving this language, calling it treasure of Indian spirituality and science. He said that protecting Sanskrit language is the collective responsibility of all Indians especially the youth as they have the prerequisite energy and knack to accomplish things in a more scientific way with less chances of things going haywire
