Rajnath Singh to attend ‘Defence Conference’ in Jammu today
Will meet BJP leaders, expected to visit forward posts

Jammu, June 25: Days after Home Minister Amit Shah addressed a public rally here, the Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will be visiting here on Monday to attend the ‘Defence Conference’ scheduled at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium at Jammu University.
Official sources added that Singh will also meet the party leaders at the Trikuta Nagar based BJP headquarters.
“During the meeting, internal and external security issues and the prevailing political scenario will also be discussed while the Defence Minister is also expected to visit the forward posts,” sources added.
They added that Singh will attend the security conference at General Zorawar Singh auditorium at 11 am on Monday which will be attended by senior citizens along with ex-servicemen and other members of the civil society.
The Defence Minister will also discuss various issues with senior leaders including BJP State President Ravinder Raina at the party headquarters.
Meanwhile President of Jammu and Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Party, Ravinder Raina told reporters here that the Defence Minister will address the security conclave in which around 1,500 special invitees, including defence experts and retired Army officers, think tanks, Advocates, Senior Media Journalist and Scholars will participate.
“Around 1,500 special invitees are attending the security conclave on internal and external security, a non-political event being organized as part of the BJP’s ongoing programme to highlight the nine-year achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government,” Raina said.
He said the defence minister will brief the gathering of prominent persons about the measures taken by the Modi-led government for
strengthening its defence mechanism after coming to power in 2014.
Defence experts, retired decorated army officers, academicians, doctors and think tanks, besides youths, will be attending the conclave.
He said that Singh will discuss the security and other important issues with the participants and also share the strong position of India in defence and other matters concerning the nation’s security and safety of the citizens residing along the borders.
The BJP leader said all necessary arrangements have been finalised for the visit of the defence minister.
According to Raina, after addressing the conclave, the minister will chair a meeting of senior BJP leaders at the party headquarters at Trikuta Nagar to review the prevailing political situation and also discuss the organisational matters.
