Bhartiya Kala Sangam raises drug addiction awareness with humorous street play

Jammu, July 4: Bhartiya Kala Sangam, in collaboration with JK Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, organized a captivating street play titled “Say no to drugs” to address the issue of drug addiction. The play, sponsored by JK Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, aimed to create awareness about the dangers of drug abuse using a unique and humorous approach.
The mesmerizing performance held the audience spellbound, and prominent figures including President Vaishno Rani, Chairman T. R. Sharma, Director Romesh Singh Chib, faculty from MAM College, students, and other distinguished guests were in attendance.
Addressing the audience, T. R. Sharma highlighted the growing concern of drug addiction and its impact on individuals and communities worldwide. He emphasized the need to address this critical issue and praised the collaboration between the faculty of MAM College Jammu, renowned playwrights, and actors in developing a powerful theatrical production. The play successfully combined humor with a strong social message. The second show of the play was organized in Rajiv Nagar, Jammu.
“Say no to drugs” brilliantly showcased the consequences of drug abuse, emphasizing the potential physical, relational, and overall well-being damage it inflicts on addicts. T. R. Sharma expressed gratitude on behalf of Bhartiya Kala Sangam to the Secretary of JKAACL, Jammu, for sponsoring the show.
Avinash Lakhnotra, the Director of the play, stated, “We believe that theater has the power to create social change.”
By incorporating humor, the play aimed to engage and educate the audience in a relatable and effective manner. The script, written by Vinay Sharma, featured modern punchlines and relatable dialogues.
The talented cast, including Avinash Lakhnotra, Ajay Tamang, Amrita Kaur, Kartavya Singh Jamwal, Manik Sharma, Nitesh Verma, Vinay Sharma, and Yogeshwar Singh Jamwal, brought the play to life. The production was managed by Sh. Ramesh Singh, Director of Bhartiya Kala Sangam, who delivered a vote of thanks at the end of the event.
