Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 10: Gaurav Gupta, former General Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Jammu, urged the government to make adequate arrangements for the Amarnath pilgrims who have been stranded in Jammu due to the closure of the Jammu Srinagar National Highway for the past three days.
With the Yatra to the sacred Amarnath cave shrine yet to resume from Jammu, Gaurav Gupta emphasizes the importance of ensuring that no pilgrim faces inconvenience during their stay. Recognizing the significance of these pilgrims as ambassadors of goodwill, he urged the government to prioritize their well-being by making elaborate arrangements for their food and accommodation.
Gaurav commended the efforts of the Tourism Department for initiating the Jammu Darshan bus service, which has provided much-needed support to the stranded pilgrims. This service has not only assisted in showcasing local tourism spots but has also showcased the commendable spirit of the local authorities and their commitment to ensuring the comfort of the pilgrims.
The former General Secretary called upon the government to build on this positive initiative and extend comprehensive support to the pilgrims until the resumption of the Amarnath Yatra. It is essential to guarantee that not a single pilgrim encounters any inconvenience during their stay in Jammu, he added.
Gaurav emphasized the significance of these pilgrims, not only as devotees but also as representatives of their respective communities. Their experience in Jammu will shape their perceptions and influence their interactions, thus impacting the region's tourism potential and overall goodwill.
Gaurav Gupta implores the government to demonstrate its commitment to the well-being of the stranded pilgrims by providing them with adequate arrangements for food, lodging, and other essential facilities. The government's concerted efforts in this regard will not only alleviate the difficulties faced by the pilgrims but also showcase their dedication to maintaining the sanctity of the Amarnath Yatra, he added.
