District admin gears up response mechanism as moderate tremor hit Kishtwar Region

KISHTWAR, July 10: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr. Devansh Yadav today undertook a tour of Kishtwar town to take stock of the situation after a moderate tremor hit the region in the wee hours, here.
He was accompanied by President Municipal Council, Sajjad Najjar; Tehsildar, Muneeb Umar; EO MC, Ninad Sen, besides other officers and officials.
There were no reports of loss of life or injury from any part of the district.
However, some houses and buildings suffered minor cracks as a result of the tremor.
In response to the situation, the district administration has put the ADC Kishtwar, Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs), Tehsildars and Police officers on high alert. They are actively engaging with the public and maintaining constant communication.
The DC urged the public to stay calm and vigilant and promptly report about any emergency to the respective ADC, SDM, Tehsildar or the Control Room established in the DC office.
The district administration is closely monitoring the situation and the Deputy Commissioner has directed the officials to promptly address any issues arising from the earthquake and provide the necessary assistance to those affected.
He also directed, President MC & EO MC Kishtwar to demolish, All risky & old dilapidated buildings in Kishtwar town after which tehsildar will issue notices for rectification & retrofitting. He also directed EO MC and Tehsildar Kishtwar to immediately stop building constructions without having permission from competent authority.
NDRF & NGOs will be roped in for providing training on earthquake response in schools, markets etc - the DC informed.
The district administration has assured the residents of Kishtwar that all necessary steps are being taken to mitigate the impact of the earthquake and restore normalcy.
The local administration is coordinating with relevant departments, including the disaster management authorities, to assess the situation comprehensively and provide relief where required.
The Deputy Commissioner extended his gratitude to the residents of Kishtwar for their cooperation and urged them to follow the guidelines issued by the district administration.
