Gandhi Nagar police seizes 92 Grams of charas, arrests drug peddler

Jammu, July 18: Jammu Police has achieved a significant success in its ongoing efforts against drug trafficking and substance abuse by recovering 92 grams of charas from an accused in the jurisdiction of PS Gandhi Nagar.
During a naka duty at Petrol Pump Main Stop Gandhi Nagar, a police team from PS Gandhi Nagar, led by SDPO South Sachit Sharma and assisted by SHO PS Gandhi Nagar Inspr. Pankaj Sharma and PSI Ranjit Singh, apprehended a suspicious individual who was coming from Petrol Pump, Main Stop Gandhi Nagar, Jammu towards the main road of Highway. Upon search, 92 grams of charas were recovered from the accused.
A case with FIR No. 179/2023 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at PS Gandhi Nagar, and the accused, identified as Ashiq Hussain, son of Mohd. Hussain Quereshi and resident of 330-Chak Wangund, P.O- Qazi Kund, P/S Qazi Kund, Anantnag, has been arrested. The investigation into the case is currently underway.
Jammu Police is dedicatedly working to eliminate the drug supply chains in the region, and thorough interrogation of the accused is being conducted to ascertain the origin of the drug supply chain. The police force is committed to raising awareness among the people, especially the youth, to eradicate the menace of drugs. The identity of informants will be kept confidential.
The successful seizure of charas and the arrest of a drug peddler highlight the determined efforts of Jammu Police in combatting drug-related crimes and ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.
