Landslide kills 2 labourers, injures 6 in Udhampur

Udhampur, July 18: Two labourers were killed and six labourers were injured after an under-construction building collapsed due to landslide on hill side area in kallar area of Udhampur on Tuesday .
According to locals Work was going on at the building when landslide suddenly hit under construction constructiin building. After getting information of incident police and NDRF team rushed to the spot and started rescue operation immediately.
In the mishap, Nandkishore age 42 yrs R/o Nayak Muhalla, MP and Rakesh Kumar S/o Naseeb Chand R/o Satyalta, Ghordi , Udhampur died on spot while six labourers suffered injuries were identifed as Devi din kushwah S/o Ishwar Dayal Age 18yrs R/o M.P A/P Near CEO office Udhamupur, Shoket Ali S/o Mohd Qasim Age 25yrs R/o Dandyal, Druvish Sharma S/o Bishan Sharma Age 18yrs R/o Saillan Talab, Master Mian S/o khilab Mian Age 45yrs R/o Bihar A/P Saillan Talab Shamiya W/o Balram Age 30yrs R/o Jojara Talab and Thakur Dass S/o Payare lal Age 25yrs R/o M.P A/P Saillan Talab.
All the Injureds were shifted to District hospital in Udhampur where their treatment is going on.
Meanwhile Additional Deputy commissioner Udhampur Joginder Singh Jasrotia visited on spot and said that we will investigate the matter properly under which circumstances incident took place.
We have jointly Started rescue operation with other rescue forces after receiving the information and rescued all the eight persons who within three hours but unfortunately two persons died on spot coming under landslide. The rescue operation has been called off now said Additional Superintendent of police udhampur.
Locals has demanded inquiry into incident and alleges district administration for its utter failure as despite information given to municipality and administration for apprehension of land erosion nothing was done and construction was allowed taking lives of local populace at ransom. People has demanded for stopping construction and also demanded burst wall in the area so that many of local houses in area could be protected who are in threat due to illegal diging of soil in area.
Meanwhile ADC Udhampur has conducted an inquiry committee of three officers for investigation the matter.
