Rattan Lal urges PM Modi, Amit Shah to stop using insulting language in politics

Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 18: Rattan Lal Gupta, the Provincial President of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, Jammu, has strongly condemned the use of derogatory language by a BJP leader against senior functionaries of the party. In a statement issued today, Gupta called for upholding the principles of ethical politics and meaningful public discourse.
Expressing regret over the outsider BJP leader's lack of awareness about the significant contributions made by the National Conference towards the welfare of the state and its people, Gupta emphasized the need for the leader to educate himself on such matters and uphold ethical political principles before making irrelevant press statements.
Gupta stressed that in a democratic society, abusive language and personal attacks against individuals who have held high positions, such as former Chief Ministers and leaders of prominent political parties, should not be tolerated. Such behavior undermines the spirit of healthy political discourse and reflects poorly on those who engage in it.
Highlighting the importance of Maharaja Hari Singh's 1927 State Subject Law and Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah's "Land to the Tiller" policy in providing shelter and sustenance to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, Gupta stated that the protection of the poor, downtrodden, and disadvantaged should be a priority. He criticized the BJP for unconstitutionally and illegally abrogating Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that the people of the region would never forgive the party for this action.
Addressing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, Gupta urged them to recognize the significance of maintaining decorum in political discourse and advised their party members to refrain from using derogatory and disrespectful language when referring to political stalwarts in Jammu and Kashmir.
Furthermore, Gupta called upon all political parties and their representatives to uphold the values of respect, dignity, and civility in public discourse. He emphasized that constructive dialogue and mutual understanding are crucial for the progress and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir. Gupta expressed hope that this incident would serve as a reminder to the BJP to prioritize the interests of the people and engage in respectful and meaningful debates that contribute to the betterment of society.
