Reasi, July 20, Narcotics smugglers faced a significant setback as the Reasi District Police launched a relentless campaign against drug abuse. In two separate incidents, three individuals were arrested with a substantial quantity of illicit substances.
During a routine check at Naka Kanthan, officers stopped a Tempo and discovered a cloth bag containing approximately 1kg 818gm of poppy straw-like substance. The vehicle driver, Mohd Saleem, failed to provide a satisfactory explanation, leading to his arrest. A case was registered under FIR No. 79/2023 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act at P/S Arnas, and investigations are underway.
In another incident near PCP Nangal, a police party on patrolling duty apprehended Sandeep Kumar and Rahul Sharma. The officers found approximately 6 grams of heroin-like substance in their possession. A case was registered under FIR No. 230/2023 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act at P/S Katra, and investigations are ongoing. SSP Reasi, Amit Gupta, emphasized the police's commitment to eradicating drug abuse and illicit liquor smuggling from the region.
