Kathua police cracks theft case, recovers stolen vehicles, apprehends thief

Kathua, July 21: In a significant breakthrough, Kathua Police achieved yet another success in its ongoing drive against thieves and vehicle lifters in the district. Under the commendable supervision of SSP Kathua, Shivdeep Singh Jamwal-JKPS, the police team apprehended one thief and successfully recovered two stolen vehicles - one Motorcycle and one Activa Scooty without any registration number.
The case unfolded on July 17, 2023, when a complaint was lodged at PS Kathua by the victim, Aswani Kumar, son of Ram Murti, residing in Ward No. 01, Kathua.
The complaint reported the theft of his Splendor Plus Motorcycle bearing Registration Number PB35V-3867. In response, a case FIR No. 305/2023 U/S 379/IPC was registered at PS Kathua, and the investigation commenced.
During the course of the investigation, the police detained one individual named Rohit Singh, son of Sh. Parladh Singh, residing in Khokhyal, Tehsil Nagri Parole, on suspicion.
Upon further questioning, Rohit Singh confessed to being involved in the theft of the said Splendor Plus Motorcycle with Registration Number PB35V-3867. Additionally, during the interrogation, he revealed the location of another stolen vehicle - an Activa Scooty, without any registration number - which was also recovered from his illegal possession.
The swift action and dedication of the police team, led by SHO P/S Kathua, Insp. Sudhir Sadhotra, under the guidance of DySP Headquarters Kathua, Manjeet Singh, led to the resolution of the theft case and the recovery of the stolen vehicles.
The police are now conducting a manhunt for other individuals involved in the crime.
