Kathua, July 21: In its relentless pursuit to curb drug trafficking and combat the menace of narcotics, Kathua Police accomplished a significant breakthrough by apprehending a drug peddler in Ward No. 13 of Kathua. During the operation conducted by a team led by PSI Swaran Singh Manhas, in association with DySP Headquarters Kathua Sh. Manjeet Singh and Insp. Sudhir Sadhotra, SHO PS Kathua, approximately 7.35 grams of Heroin (Chitta) were confiscated from the possession of the accused.
The operation was initiated based on credible information received through reliable sources at PP Hatli, indicating the illegal trade of narcotics contraband by an individual named Javed Akhter. Acting swiftly on the intelligence, the police team conducted a meticulous naka/checking procedure, leading to the arrest of Javed Akhter, son of Mohd. Ramzan, resident of Ward No. 6 Chalog, Tehsil Bani, District Kathua, who was found behaving suspiciously. During the frisking process, the police seized approximately 7.35 grams of Heroin (Chitta) from the possession of the accused. The narcotics were promptly confiscated, and Javed Akhter was arrested on the spot. A case has been registered against him under FIR No. 311/2023 U/S 8/21/22/ NDPS Act at Police Station Kathua, and further investigation is underway.
